Sometimes, getting a good night’ s sleep is not easy. We may toss and turn, or even wake up during the night and then find it next to impossible to get back to sleep. This article will help you know how to get a good night’s sleep.
You would be surprised to know that diet plays a major factor. There are certain foods that can affect your sleep. For instance, large quantities of food in the evening cause heartburn and stomach trouble  this problem worsens if you lie down. So avoid rich, fatty or greasy foods, and stay away from spicy foods, as the stomach needs time to digest these, and may keep you awake. Avoid drinking too much fluid prior to bedtime, you will find yourself waking up wanting to go to the bathroom. Also avoid alcohol; because in the long run it affects you sleep pattern and causes frequent awakenings. You should also avoid caffeine in the evening  not just coffee, but also caffeinated sodas, caffeinated chocolate, and certain teas.
You need a relaxed, consisted routine every time to help you get to sleep. Do something that relaxes you. Put on some soothing classical music, take a warm bath, or indulge in some quiet reading. You might even try Yoga as a relaxation exercise. Avoid anything that causes stress and anxiety. The suitable thing to do is prepare for sleep by trying visualization/medication, knitting, doing a jigsaw puzzle, reading something light, listening to soft music, etc.
Avoid anxiety, worrying, and stress your sleep-time should be characterized by peace and quiet. Avoid upsetting news; quiet your mind with simple activities like getting your clothes ready for the next day, or making a list of things to do. You would be surprised at how much more relaxed and sleepy you feel.
